“…Goel and co-workers were the first to do a systematic study in this direction and synthesised a number of compounds of the type (Ph 3 SbX) 2 O (X ¼ Cl, Br, ClO 4 , NO 3 , NCS, N 3 and NCO), as well as of the type (R 3 Sb 2 ) 2 OX (X ¼ C 2 O 4 , SO 4 and SeO 4 ) 4,5 and determined their structure by a crystallographic study as well as by vibrational spectral data 12 . The IR data were interpreted in favour of a non-ionic, pentacoordinated structure, possibly involving bridging anionic groups and planar triphenylantimony moieties, but when X is replaced by a highly electronegative group, such as perchlorate or nitrate, the antimony is no longer pentavalent but ions are present instead 13 .…”

“…The structural characterization of antimony azide species was so far only possible when organic ligands were present, except for the ternary antimony(V) species (SbCl 4 N 3 ) 2 [6]. The structure of the molecules {[(PN t Bu) 2 [9] and [(C 6 H 5 ) 3 SbN 3 ] 2 O [10] could be solved by X-ray diffraction. The weak crystallization tendency of Sb(N 3 ) 3 prompted us to find a better crystallizing antimony azide species having a minor azide content.…”
