Several new m-oxybis[tri(a-naphthyl)antimony(V)] derivatives of the general formula (R 3 SbL) 2 O (where R ¼ a-C 10 H 7 ; L ¼ N 3 , CN, SCN; ON¼CPh(OH)CHPh, ON¼C(CH 2 ) 4 CH 2 , OOCC 6 -H 4 NH 2 -p, OOCC 6 H 5 , OOCC 6 H 4 Cl-p, and NCO(C 6 H 4 )CO have been prepared by the interaction of (R 3 SbCl) 2 O with the appropriate metal salts of the ligand. (R 3 SbN 3 ) 2 O could also be obtained by the interaction of R 3 SbCl 2 with NaN 3 (1:2 molar ratio) in ether=water solvent mixture. The newly synthesised complexes have been characterised by elemental analyses, IR spectra, molecular weights and conductance measurements. A trigonal-bipyramidal geometry around the antimony atom with a Sb-O-Sb linkage is tentatively suggested.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
