“…I try to control for this problem using plant fixed effects. However, the coefficient is still likely biased downwards since average counts at Shenxin increased during the mid-1930s (Wu, 1935). Measurement of weaving productivity is less problematic because changes in cloth type have less dramatic effects on output.…”
