“…The majority of the earlier studies have explored economic, demographic, political and institutional outcomes as measures of integration, including wages, employment, language, citizenship rights, religion, fertility choices and language [6][7][8][9][10][11][12]. While few studies have explored the role of different types of cultural and leisure activities as part of the integration process [13,14], our study contributes to the earlier literature by exploring the impact of the migration policy of the EU Blue Card programme in 2012 on cultural participation using a sharp regression discontinuity design (RDD) and as a robustness check, we apply a fuzzy RDD. While we recognize that integration is very important for promoting social inclusion and the well-being of migrants in terms of economic and political initiatives, such as citizenship rights, employment and wages, we argue that research should also focus on the effect of policies on cultural participation, as it can demonstrate well-being, promote social inclusion and build a space for cross-cultural dialogue [15,16].…”
