“…Experience of prestressed pavements so far built seems to indicate that no special problems exist, (6) and when contractors become experienced in the stressing techniques and when more knowledge is available about thicknesses and amounts of prestress required, then costs will be comparable and perhaps even less than standard pavements. A number of engineers have, however, asked contractors to price prestressed designs and equivalent pavements designed by orthodox methods, and it seems that there is very little difference, at least as far as main roads are concerned.…”
