The Comparison of Progressive Muscle Relaxation Frequency on Anxiety, Blood Pressure, and Pulse of Haemodialysis Patients

Abstract: Introduction: Haemodialysis is one of the kidney replacements therapies, but, as it cannot wholly replace kidney function, it still causes complications such as increased blood pressure and pulse which can lead to anxiety for the patient. The purpose of this study was to explain the effect of Progressive Muscle Relaxation (PMR) on anxiety, blood pressure and pulse in haemodialysis patients. Methods: The study design was a true pre-post-test control group design experiment. The total sample was 105 haemodialysis… Show more

“…It was concluded that relaxation exercises reduce respiration, pulse rate and blood pressure. While in some studies, progressive muscle relaxation used to reduce blood pressure has been shown to reduce only systolic pressure (Astuti et al, 2019), studies are showing that it affects both systolic and diastolic pressure (Kusnanto et al, 2019;Rosdiana & Cahyati,2019). A study conducted by cancer patients showed that PMRE significantly affects diastolic blood pressure (Loh et al, 2022).…”
