The Co Relation of Serum Uric Acid with Risk Factors and Severity of Coronary Artery Disease (CAD) in Acute Coronary Syndrome

Abstract: Several epidemiologic studies have shown elevated uric acid levels to predict increased risk of cardiovascular events. Few studies have addressed the value of this biomarker across the whole spectrum of patients with ACS (Acute Coronary Syndrome) especially in Indian settings. Thus, the aim of this study was investigate whether there is an association between serum uric acid level with CAD (Coronary Artery Disease) risk factors its and severity in ACS patients. Material and methods: This cross -sectional study… Show more

“…Selain itu, kadar asam urat serum berkorelasi dengan jumlah aterosklerosis arteri koroner yang terkena pada pasien SKA. 13 Beberapa penelitian telah meneliti hubungan hiperurisemia dengan keparahan lesi arteri koroner dibandingkan normourisemia pada pasien SKA. Namun demikian, batasan definisi hiperurisemia yang digunakan berbeda-beda, sehingga hasilnya juga berbeda.…”

“…4 In acute coronary syndrome patients, those with hyperuricemia suffered more coronary vessel number involvement than those with normal uric acid levels. 5 Patients with atherosclerotic plaque in the thoracic aorta had higher uric acid levels compared to normal ones. 6 A plasma protein known as C-reactive protein (CRP), which is primarily synthesized by the liver, has been associated with atherosclerosis due to several characteristics, including complement system activation, apoptosis, monocyte recruitment, accumulation of lipids, activation of the vascular cell, and thrombus formation.…”

“…Furthermore, the SUA level associates with the amount of coronary artery atherosclerosis in patients with ACS. 8 Several studies have analyzed the correlation between hyperuricemia and severity of coronary artery disease by comparing them with normouricemia in ACS patients. However, the hyperuricemia terms have various boundaries and interpretations, causing differences in the results.…”
