The Cluster Between Internet of Things and Social Networks: Review and Research Challenges

Abstract: The cluster between Internet of Things (IoT) and Social Networks (SN) enables the connection of people to the ubiquitous computing universe. In this framework, the information coming from the environment is provided by the IoT, and the SN brings the glue to allow human-to-device interactions. This article explores the novel paradigm for ubiquitous computing beyond IoT, denoted by Social Internet of Things (SIoT). Although there have been early-stage studies in social-driven IoT, they merely use one or some pro… Show more

“…This principle has given birth to the concept of Social Internet of Things (SIoT), which is emerging as a new paradigm with the merger of social networks and IoT [3][4][5][6][7]. It has been realized as an efficient way to facilitate the development of complex future IoT applications.…”

“…More specifically, Ref. [25] analyzed the notion of ubiquitous services of IoT in connection with their usage in the context of social networks. Other works focused on particular domains of IoT services, such as [26], introducing an interconnection framework for mobile Health (mHealth), or [27,28] where the composition service is enabled by means of a semantic ontology.…”

“…The application acquires all these parameters and cross references with the various other parameters that are obtained from the other wearable devices on the blind user to get a optimal choice of event to respond to based on the distance of the user from the event [21].The data coming in from the surrounding environment which is gathered by the various devices that implement the IoT paradigm is used by the blind to evaluate and respond to such dynamically emerging information. The response is given to the blind through the audio messages [22].…”
