This study aims to analyze the impacts of the lack of ergonomic view in the projects of equipment design on workers’ health from the maintenance sector, in the mining industry context. To understand the operators’ health, maintenance activities of three types of equipment were analyzed: pump, crusher and sieve. The methodological strategy of Ergonomic Analysis of the Workplace (EWA) was used. Thus, changes in these activities are required, since some postures adopted for their performance were considered severe and with high risk. Bearing weight above the shoulders and uncomfortable positions are conditions resulted from failures in the equipment designs. To alleviate the problem, it is suggested the adoption of innovative tools or the creation of new supportive devices to improve working conditions of these maintenance professionals.

Este artigo foi realizado tendo por objetivo de compreender como a psicodinâmica do trabalho se apresenta no contexto laboral de ressocialização de usuários com transtornos mentais, em uma organização social ligada à arte e cultura popular. Realizaram-se cinco entrevistas semiestruturadas em uma fundação com dois tipos de trabalhadores: i) três usuários com transtornos mentais; e ii) dois trabalhadores-cuidadores. Através de uma abordagem qualitativa, utilizou-se a metodologia da análise dos núcleos de sentido (ANS) para compreensão dos dados nos quais foram todos transcritos e analisados no software Atlas Ti. Foram encontrados 383 núcleos de sentido e agrupados em seis temas relacionados às dimensões de contexto e de conteúdo da PDT: i) condições de trabalho; ii) organização de trabalho; iii) relações de trabalho; iv) prazer-sofrimento; v) estratégias de defesa; vi) reconhecimento. Por fim, foi possível concluir que o trabalho neste empreendimento, além de ajudar na ressocialização, também contribui de maneira benéfica no tratamento psicológico dos usuários; e no tocante aos “trabalhadores-cuidadores”, os mesmos reaprenderam e ressignificaram o seu próprio trabalho, a partir da ação dos “trabalhadores-pacientes”, constituindo uma teia de relações multifacetadas.

In the context of the global crisis there is an increasing interest regarding sustainability. While the focus of debate was at the beginning mainly on society level, sustainability issues have currently a growing relevance for social and economic organizational performance. The paper aims to present arguments for considering ergonomics as a support for organizational sustainability. Based on sustainability reports and ergonomics literature review, the paper highlights the essential role of work systems’ ergonomic design and finds supporting arguments about ergonomics interventions’ impact on organizational performance. The contribution of the paper focuses on helping companies and top managers to understand the impact of ergonomics interventions on decreasing social and economic costs, related especially to occupational health and safety hazard prevention.
