“…[17] Later on, Janković et al reported similar estimations of the burden of disease in Serbia for 18 diseases and conditions. [18] According to their assessment, IHD contributed to 26.1 DALYs per 1000 population in men, and to 14.1 DALYs per 1000 for women. [18] Using PAF for road-traffic noise, we extrapolated these data to 652.5 DALYs from IHD per million inhabitants among men and to 352.5 DALYs from IHD per million inhabitants among women attributable to road-traffic noise.…”

When compared with the presented extrapolations, DALYs from MI obtained in our study are substantially smaller.…”

“…To calculate YLL, age-specific mortality rates were multiplied by agespecific standard expected YLL and population numbers. 9 To calculate the remaining years of potential life at any age at death, we used the standard model life table West Level 26 with a life expectancy at birth of 82.5 years for women and 80 years for men. 10 YLD is estimated by multiplying age-specific incidence rates by an average duration of each incident case (or, more precisely, of the associated disability until death or recovery) and average disability weight.…”

“…Years of life (during 1990s) under severe stress have brought depression and hopelessness, followed by general negligence towards health and increased risk behavior [15]. After that period, the health status of the population of Serbia was harmfully influenced by numerous factors (the long-lasting economic crisis, the consequences of war in the surrounding countries and in Serbia as well, economic and diplomatic sanctions) [16,17,18]. In addition to body weight, the amount of body fat and muscle mass is significantly increased during adolescence.…”
