The benefits of a mindfulness program for university students: A qualitative exploration on intrapersonal and interpersonal relationships

Abstract: This study explores the perceived benefits of a mindfulness program for university students, focusing on changes in their intrapersonal and interpersonal relationships. The findings underscore increased self‐compassion and self‐care and diminished levels of self‐judgement. Mindfulness programs could be incorporated into counseling services in higher education to improve students’ well‐being.

“…This is related to what other researchers, such as Cepeda (2015) and González et al (2019) noted about the relationship between mindfulness and well-being, as they indicated that subjects trained in mindfulness experience a favourable impact when facing stressful situations, obtain emotional advantages and contribute to avoiding relapse among those individuals suffering from depression. These data have been assessed through numerous instruments, including: the Depression Anxiety Stress Scales (DASS); the Perceived Stress Scale (PSS); the World Health Organisation's Five-Item Well-Being Index (WHO-5); and the Psychological Well-Being Scale (PWBS), which showed how students perceived a signi cant improvement in these aspects (Altinyelken, 2022;Harris et al, 2016;Langer et al, 2017;Sanger et al, 2018).…”
