The Battle between Battery and Fuel Cell Powered Electric Vehicles: A BWM Approach

Abstract: Abstract:The transition to a more sustainable personal transportation sector requires the widespread adoption of electric vehicles. However, a dominant design has not yet emerged and a standards battle is being fought between battery and hydrogen fuel cell powered electric vehicles. The aim of this paper is to analyze which factors are most likely to influence the outcome of this battle, thereby reducing the uncertainty in the industry regarding investment decisions in either of these technologies. We examine … Show more

“…On the contrary, lack of refueling infrastructure and impossibility for FCEVs to be charged at most residential homes is a key demerit [24][25][26]. Efficiency and cost remain controversial for the future of BEVs and FCEVs to determine which technology exceeds the other, but indications can be found, which favor BEVs [27][28][29][30].The rail mode is less environmentally critical, more energy efficient, and may enable a faster transportation compared with other transport modes. These virtues also pose economic attractiveness and contribute to societal benefits.…”

“…The BWM is the method that has increasingly been applied over a short time . Some authors [122][123][124]128,134,[138][139][140]] see this method as an adequate substitute for the AHP. Its major advantage is a smaller number of pairwise comparisons (2n − 3) compared to the AHP.…”

“…It acts based on linear programming. It has received considerable attention in various fields (Van de Kaa, Scholten, Rezaei, & Milchram, 2017;Chitsaz & Azarnivand, 2017;. The idea behind the BWM allows decision-makers to run an operable model in complex decision environments (Rezaei, Nispeling, Sarkis, & Tavasszy, 2016;Rezaei, Wang, & Tavasszy, 2015;Ahmadi, Kusi-Sarpong, & Rezaei, 2017;Gupta, 2018).…”
