The ASTRI Mini-Array at Teide Observatory

Abstract: The ASTRI Mini-Array is an international project led by the Italian National Institute of Astrophysics (INAF) with the participation of the Instituto de Astrofisica de Canarias, Brazil and South Africa to be installed at the Teide Observatory, in Tenerife, to observe the Very High Energy sky in the range of a few TeV up to 100 TeV and beyond. The ASTRI Mini-Array technology is based on the ASTRI-Horn prototype, a small-sized Cherenkov telescope (SST) developed by INAF within the Cherenkov Telescope Array (CTA)… Show more

“…The telescope structure and its optics system have been chosen for the small-sized telescopes to be installed at the Cherenkov Telescope Array (CTA) [9] southern site. At the same time, the complete ASTRI-Horn is the prototype of the nine telescopes that form the ASTRI Mini-Array [10] under construction at the Teide Observatory, Canary Islands, Spain, that will be able to study bright sources (∼ 10 −12 erg cms −2 s −1 at 10 TeV) with an angular resolution of ∼ 3 ′ and an energy resolution of ∼ 10% at an energy of about 10 TeV [11,16].…”

“…The ASTRI MA will be operated by INAF based on a host agreement with IAC. 14,15 In addition, the ASTRI Collaboration is participating to the preparatory effort for the realization of the Cherenkov Telescope Array (CTA). It will be located in two different sites, one in the northern and one in the southern hemisphere, and will be made up of three different types of IACTs.…”
