“…The infants in our study who developed late-onset NEC had been associated with congenital anomalies, and a significant increased risk of mortality. Motta et al [ 20 ] reported similar rates of congenital heart disease and that the infants in their population also had many associated illness and anomalies. [ 21 ] It is possible that more of hypoxic cardiac defects, associated with NEC patients, would place them at a higher risk for intestinal hypoperfusion, which might predispose infants to development NEC and the following complication.…”

“…It is unclear whether microvascular structural changes alone are sufficient to induce NEC, even though congenital heart disease has been recognized as a serious risk factor for NEC (30,31). In this study, VEGFR2 kinase inhibitor administration Fig.…”

“…Some regions had multiple studies other areas had none. A total of eight studies were reported from the United States covering a number of states including: California, Texas, Atlanta, Connecticut, and New York (3,6,9,(27)(28)(29)(30)(31). Multiple studies were also reported from the Europe including Poland, Romania, Finland, Belgium, Sweden and Switzerland (12,13,28,(32)(33)(34).…”
