The application of hydrogels based on N-isopropylacrylamide and anionic comonomers

Abstract: Hydrogels represent three-dimensional networks of polymer chains that have the ability of absorption of a significant amount of water or biological fluid. A special group of hydrogels are copolymers which respond to changes of pH values and temperature. Desirable characteristics of temperature-and pH-sensitive hydrogels based on N-isopropylacrylamide and anionic comonomers for different applications, from pharmaceutical to the environmental one, can be designed by composition of copolymers.
