The Antiresonant Reflecting Optical Waveguide Fiber Sensor

Abstract: In this chapter, the optical fiber sensors based on antiresonant reflecting optical waveguide have been introduced, including the single layer, double layers, double resonators, and hybrid mechanism. Various optical fiber sensors based on antiresonant reflecting optical waveguide have been introduced in this chapter with different working principles, including the fiber optic vibration sensor, humidity sensor, strain sensor, temperature sensor, magnetic field sensor, biosensor, etc. Especially, many long-stand… Show more

“…Figure shows the different guiding mechanisms of photonic band gap (PBG), anti-resonant reflecting optical waveguide (ARROW), and surface plasmons (SPR). The physical principle of ARROW applies to the light that does not meet the resonance condition and is confined to the low RI fiber core for transmission …”

“…The physical principle of ARROW applies to the light that does not meet the resonance condition and is confined to the low RI fiber core for transmission. 134 OFS can be primarily divided into two main types, intrinsic or extrinsic. Intrinsic OFS are sensors where there is no external recognition center and the optical fiber itself detects an external change (the measurand modifies some parameter of the fiber).…”
