The Alwall Artificial Kidney: An Assessment After One Year

Abstract: SUMMARY The Alwall artificial kidney has been assessed after one year of operation and 100 hemodialyses at Newcastle. It has proved adequate for the treatment of most patients, but it is suggested that a machine of larger dialysing surface area is preferable for treating post‐traumatic and post‐operative renal failure.
