“…The application of the pressure test used in the CCS industry to establish the ''well is loss-free'' above the storage horizon is possible in principle. It would, however, require destroying a possibly intact composite system above the storage horizon (Crow et al 2009;Reinicke and Fichter 2010).…”

“…A hydraulic isolation behind the casing is generally assumed, if a minimum interval of quality cementation, whose value depends on the specific formations and the companies involved, can be identified. Measurement methods have evolved to the point, where evaluation can be carried out with a high degree of confidence (Reinicke and Fichter 2010;Schutze et al 2012). In the case of excessive loading, the integrity of oil wells is commonly assessed by a water test, as for instance in the case of thermal wells, to provide evidence that the ''well is pressure-tight''.…”

“…Leakage of CO 2 through old boreholes has occurred in relation to EOR projects in the United States, 3 but Porse et al (2014) suggest that the perceived risk of CO 2 well blowouts in EOR operations is greater than the technical risk. Kü hn et al (2013) tested 12 legacy boreholes for a possible enhanced gas recovery project in the depleted Altmark natural gas field in Germany, and the authors found that these existing wells would still maintain integrity after injecting 100,000 t of CO 2 . Still, leakage risks could be higher in areas that have historically produced oil and gas, primarily owing to the higher density of legacy wellbores.…”

“…Aktualnie wdraża się instalację pilotażową EGR w strukturze Altensalzwedel na złożu Altmark w Niemczech, gdzie przewiduje się zatłoczenie do 100 tys. ton CO 2 w utwory piaskowcowe czerwonego spągowca [8]. …”
