The Adaptive Thermal and Traffic-Balanced Routing algorithm based on temperature analysis and traffic statistics

Abstract: Recently, 3D NOC is proposed as an efficient architecture to optimize system performance. However, its die-stacking architecture further results in severe heat and traffic congestion problem. In the view of that, a new Adaptive Thermal and Traffic Balanced ZXY Routing algorithm (ATTBR) is proposed to solve the problems. Experiments has shown that, in the 4 × 4 × 4 3D Mesh, ATTBR has a better throughput and average delay performance achieves 34.67% and 14.85% increment in Temperature-Traffic Balance Product whi… Show more

“…The thermal issues may degrade the system performance and cause lower reliability of the system. In order to tackle the thermal issues in 3D NoC-based systems, dynamic thermal management [8,9,10,11,12,13] and adaptive routing strategy [14,15,16,17,18,19] have been proposed.…”

“…By contrast, routing based DTMs [8,9] alleviate the thermal issues by balancing the thermal distribution. Rahmani et al [8] proposed a thermal-aware routing strategy for bus-mesh hybrid 3D NoC.…”

“…The adaptiveness provided is seemingly limited and only two routing states are available. Our previous work [9] has proposed a thermal and traffic balanced algorithm based on the global sharing information, but introduces additional bandwidth consumption, and thus additional power consumption.…”
