“…Furthermore, the expected effects of FLX in Porsolt test were absent even after the intraperitoneal injection or the housing of the male Swiss mice in standard or inverted light/dark cycle. Present data were surprising because previous studies have shown that oral treatment with antidepressants reduced the immobility time of Swiss mice in the Porsolt test in a variety of experimental conditions (19,20,2731). A paper reporting conditions similar to those here (Swiss mice, oral treatment, behavioural testing in the afternoon, blinding, and randomisation) found an effect size above 60% for FLX treatment on immobility time (29).…”

“…It is well recognized that neuroimmune alterations play vital roles in the course of pain and depression 9, 11, 55 . Nerve injury results in mood disturbance associated with up-regulation of IL-1β 24 , IL-6 26 and TNF-α 56 in the PFC, and inhibition of inflammation rescues mood disturbance. Inflammatory signaling is triggered after peripheral nerve injury, which projects to the several supraspinal regions (including the PFC) via neural, humoral or cellular pathways 57 .…”

“…Thalidomide is another promising approach for NP treatment. Some animal studies have demonstrated that oral or intraperitoneal injection of thalidomide can not only reduce NP responses but also mediate depressive-like behaviors associated with NP [ 49 , 50 ]. The others, including natalizumab, rituximab, daclizumab, and ibrutinib, have not been reported as NP therapeutic drugs.…”
