Tetrabromobisphenol A – Toxicity, environmental and occupational exposures

Abstract: StreszczenieTetrabromobisfenol A (tetrabromobisphenol A -TBBPA) należy do grupy bromowanych związków uniepalniających (brominated flame retardants -BFR), stanowiących aż 25% rynku wszystkich substancji opóźniających palenie. Szerokie zastosowanie omawianego zw… Show more

“…79-94-7) and tetrachlorobisphenol A (TCBPA; 2,2′,6,6′-tetrachloro-4,4′-isopropylidenediphenol; CAS registry no. 79-95-8) are the most widely produced and used owing to their efficient fire resistance and cost-effectiveness [ [3] , [4] , [5] , [6] ]. TBBPA and TCBPA have recently attracted considerable attention because of their release into the environment through their persistent use and posed serious threats to living organisms [ 7 9 ].…”

“…TBBPA and its related compounds can leach into the environment and produce adverse effects on human health. Human exposure to TBBPA occurs by inhalation of dust, dermal contact, and ingestion 123. TBBPA has been found in commercial drinking water stored in reusable polycarbonate containers and in seafood 4.…”
