Environmental issues occurred from the end of the 20th century until the second decade of the 21st century. Environmental issues such as the climate crisis, global warming, and exploitation of natural resources are separate problems in human development. The development required a public participatory process so that the development comes can run effectively and efficiently, especially development based on an ecological perspective. Indonesia, with the largest Muslim population in the world, has the potential to support a development process based on an environmental perspective. Islam, by the Al-Qur’an as the base of guiding, contains ecological values that need to be transformed for Muslims. The process of transforming the values of Islamic guidance, or da’wa, allows for the transformation of Islamic values, especially ecological values, which are then referred to as ecological da’wa. In ecological da’wa, the process and end goal can be an alternative development communication to create a sustainable living environment and make the community achieve sustainable and harmonious prosperity and welfare.

Manusia merupakan makhluk yang secara spesial dipilih Allah untuk menjaga bumi tempat tinggalnya. Kekhususan ini mengandung konsekuensi yang tidak dapat dihindarakan, yaitu tanggung jawab kepada Allah dan makhluk lainnya yang hidup di dunia. Sayangnya, tugas dan tanggung jawab ini seringkali terabaikan dan manusia hanya fokus pada dirinya. Melalui dokumen berjudul Laudato Si yang ditulis Paus Fransiskus, ia ingin kembali menyadarkan manusia kembali pada hakekatnya sebagai penjaga dan pelestari bumi. Selain itu, dalam pengajaran dari Agama Islam yang direpresentasikan dalam pemikiran Teologi Lingkungan Muhammadiyah ingin menyadarkan kembali kebersatuan manusia dengan Allah melalui alam ciptaanNya. Dengan menggunakan kajian integritas terbuka dan metode kualitatif, tulisan ini berupaya mendalami gagasan dari Laudato Si dan Teologi Lingkungan Muhammadiyah, serta mengambil langkah aplikatif dan mencari sintesis gagasan dari dua agama tersebut.

This study aims to discuss the high order thinking skill approach in the sharah hadith method with regard to contemporary issues for the formulation of applied theology. This research method uses a qualitative type through literature study by applying the high order thinking skill approach. The results and discussion of this research include sharah hadith about kalam, tauhid science to applied theology, and from theology to service according to the high order thinking skill approach. The conclusion of this study is that the high order thinking skill approach allows being applied in the sharah hadith method with regard to contemporary issues for the formulation of applied theology. This study recommends the urgency of applying high order thinking skills as a research approach to contemporary issues in Islamic diversity.
