For climate change scenarios, there is a high degree of complexity, with impacts on the future availability of water resources. In this context, studies related to changes in rainfall time series are essential in order to identify environmental vulnerability. The objective of this study was to analyze trends in the rainfall regime, number of rainy days and temperature for stations located at different continentality and altitude conditions in Northeast Brazil. Meteorological data of the Instituto Nacional de Meteorologia were used, being classified according to the location in relation to the continent: coastal strip (14 stations), strip of 150-300 km up to 300 m altitude (14 stations) and above 300 m (five stations), between 400 and 600 km from the coast up to 300 m (four stations) and above 300 m (eight stations). All the 45 stations used have a historical series with a data period of more than 30 years. The trend of rainfall and rainy days was obtained through the Mann-Kendall and regression analyses, at significance levels of 0.01 and 0.05, respectively. There were trends of reduction in the number of rainy days, in the coastal strip, as well as reduction in rainfall and rainy days, both in the strip of 150-300 km from the coast and in the Sertão region, with no significant effect of continentality in the strip of 400-600 km from the coast. For temperature, except for Maceió, AL, Brazil, there is a trend of increase in near future.

In recent decades, climatic and anthropogenic pressures have caused serious environmental problems. The joint analysis of geo-environmental variables, through geoprocessing techniques, can support the estimation of the contribution of each environmental component to hydro-environmental fragility (HF). The aim of this work was to analyze the contribution of climatic phenomena and deforestation in the HF of the Gurupi River Watershed (GRW). Precipitation data were extracted from the Climate Hazards Group InfraRed Precipitation with Stations (CHIRPS); land use and cover were obtained from the MapBiomas Project; drainage network was acquired from the National Water and Sanitation Agency (ANA); slope data were gathered from the National Institute for Space Research (INPE); soil data were obtained from the Brazilian Agricultural Research Corporation (EMBRAPA); geomorphological units were extracted from the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE); and rock data were based on the Geological Survey of Brazil (CPRM). For the mapping of HF, the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) was adopted to weigh the importance of each variable in four extreme precipitation year scenarios (1989, 2012, 2015, and 2019). It was observed that spatial precipitation is considerably different in extreme years. Results showed that deforestation has increased over the years; and that static geo-environmental variables (drainage, slope, soils, geomorphological units, and rocks) have larger feature domains that favor the increase of HF in the GRW. The HF of the GRW showed significant differences in the analyzed scenarios. Policies and environmental conservation programs are needed in the GRW.

Processos de desertificação no Brasil ocorrem especialmente em áreas do Nordeste e as condições climáticas são as que mais contribuem para isso. O objetivo principal neste trabalho foi analisar as possíveis causas climáticas que influenciam o processo de desertificação em Irauçuba-CE. Para isso, foram utilizados dados mensais de precipitação e temperatura do ar do referido município, cedidos pela FUNCEME, para o período de 1981 a 2020. A quadra chuvosa em Irauçuba compreende o período de janeiro a abril, sendo o mês de março o de máximo registro de precipitação. Os máximos de precipitação estão entre 100 mm a 432,50 mm e os máximos de temperaturas entre 28,2°C a 29,9°C. Ocorreram mais anos secos que anos úmidos. Foram detectadas tendências de diminuição na precipitação indicando que as chuvas que ocorreram na localidade vêm diminuindo gradativamente ao longo do tempo, com tendências na série de -0,9078. Enquanto a temperatura tende a aumentar, com tendência na série de 0,0833 sem significância estatística conforme o teste T-Student. A análise de ondeletas sugere que precipitação e a temperatura foram influenciadas pelas escalas: sazonal, ENOS estendido, Manchas solares e Dipolo do Atlântico, e a Oscilação Interdecadal do Pacífico influenciou apenas a série de temperatura. Nas análises de ondaletas cruzadas ocorreu maior coerência na escala de 8 anos, indicando que o máximo de precipitação ocorre 3 anos antes do máximo do Dipolo do Atlântico.
