Temperature Dependencies of Piezoelectric Coefficients of L-Alanine Doped TGS Crystals

Abstract: The Michelson single beam laser interferometer has been used to study small displacement of LATGS crystals caused by the reciprocal piezoelectric effect. All eight nonzero mutually independent piezoelectric coefficients d iλ have been determined. Values of piezoelectric coefficients d 16 , d 21 , d 22 and d 23 and absolute values of piezoelectric coefficients d 25 and d 34 increase with increasing temperature, piezoelectric coefficients d 14 and d 36 decrease. Measured data was fitted according to a mathematic… Show more

“…In particular, it should be noted that the apparent shear piezoelectric coefficients d34app, d35app, and d36app were measured to be as high as 7210, 7374, and 12 818 pm V −1 , respectively, which are all about tenfold bigger than the natural d 15 value (780 pm V −1 ) of this material, and hundreds of times as much as those constants of piezoelectric crystals. [ 41–43 ] The enhanced shear deformations and corresponding apparent shear piezoelectric coefficients of 3D OSPSU came from the strong synergistic strain coupling, leading to local stress concentration effect between units at the interface, and therefore, a large nonlinear shear deformation. At the same time, considering the merits such as no secondary coating of electrodes, no need to worry about polarization switching, low price, and long service time, these three modes could certainly play a significant role in the future advanced piezoelectric devices.…”
