Technologies, Methods, and Values

Abstract: The field of Computer Supported Cooperative Work has constantly evolved to meet the changing needs of individuals at home, at work, and online. To understand how these changes impacted CSCW research, we systematically reviewed 1209 papers and notes published at the ACM Conference on Computer Supported Cooperative Work between 1990 and 2015. When considered with results from two previous literature reviews, covering 1990 - 1998 and 1998 - 2004 respectively, our analysis provides perspective on 25 years of group… Show more

“…The social computing research community has not been actively focused on collocated and synchronous, or as we call them, dual-channel, collaborative environments [68]. However, commercial tools, such as Slido, Mentimeter, Poll Everywhere and Screen.io are already available to support such augmentation in collocated events.…”

“…The CSCW community has long been self-reflexive with meta-research, particularly using bibliometric and network analysis methods to examine the shifting nature of the field over time. Past work has used citation and collaboration graphs to examine the representation of intellectual topics, clusters of papers and authors that cite each other, and CSCW's relationship to other fields (particularly CHI/HCI) [2,8,10,11,25]. These papers find CSCW is a continually evolving set of overlapping research communities, which has strong variance and volatility over time.…”

“…It should lead to the development of instrumented collaborative pedagogical practices in school environment using tactile digital technologies. This research is based on previous work on Computer-Supported Cooperative Work (CSCW) (Correia et al, 2018;Wainer and Barsottini, 2007;Wallace et al, 2017). The challenge of the project is to allow the design of models to understand the processes of collaborative work and learning in school and professional spaces.…”
