Technoeconomical Analysis of Macrocell and Femtocell Based HetNet under Different Deployment Constraints

Abstract: Ultradense deployment of small cells is being considered as one of the key flavors of the emerging 5G cellular networks to address the future data capacity challenges. A large share of these deployments will be indoor, as this is the arena where the majority of the data traffic is believed to originate from in the future. Indoor small cell solutions (e.g., femtocell or WiFi) are well positioned for delivering superior indoor coverage and capacity. However, due to relatively smaller coverage footprint compared … Show more

“…Equations ( 4) and ( 5) [1] are the same but Equation ( 6) is for a small cell. Equations ( 1)-( 3) [18] all have a limitation; imbursement is always made at the end of the investment and this can affect the agreed payment plan or attract a penalty if the MNO defaults on payment. Fluctuation in the interest rate and inflation affect the amount to be paid.…”

“…Tema has an area of 565 km 2 [22] and a population of about 292,700 living in 40,956 houses. We will verify the economic performance of the models for MPICOC (small cell), MDAS (RRH) and femtocell [18]. An SA is performed on MPICOC (small cell), MDAS (RRH) and femtocell in a 50 km 2 area.…”

“…There is a need to analyze a full range of deployment options, as a lack of planning prior to deployment can result in significantly higher costs, and greater inefficiency in energy consumption. Such an approach is common in the engineering literature (Cano, Carello, Cesana, Passacantando, & Sansò, 2019;Frias & Pérez, 2012;Giglio & Pagano, 2019;Yunas, Ansari, & Valkama, 2016), but these techniques are rarely applied spatially, for example at the subnational level.…”
