Techno-economic analysis of rooftop solar power plant implementation and policy on mosques: an Indonesian case study

Abstract: Indonesia is pushing the implementation of renewable energy to meet its climate action target. Solar energy is abundant, and its utilization is prioritized, including rooftop solar power plant (RSPP). This research presents a techno-economic analysis of an RSPP installed in a mosque in Ngombol subdistrict, Purworejo district, Central Java, Indonesia. This article also introduces and explains the regulation of RSPP and electricity tariffs in Indonesia, which define the economics of RSPP. This study employs an o… Show more

“…Extending from the city to university campus in Iraq, solar energy cost for PV grid-connected system was 6.3¢/kWh with NPV value at 551,600US$ (Ali and Alomar 2023 ). Suparwoko and Qamar ( 2022 ) have conducted an evaluation pertaining to the economic value of solar PV system installed on the rooftop of the mosque at the Central Java, Indonesia. Five difference case study was deployed to identify the feasibility of rooftop solar PV technology implementation based on current/possible situation in Indonesia.…”

“…Meanwhile, the weakness of this system is its inability to transmit electrical energy to the load while experiencing a power outage from the power grid because the inverter will automatically turn off when there is no incoming voltage from the power grid [17], [18]. The electric power generated from the solar power plant during a power outage will be lost if there is no storage battery in the solar power plant [17], [19]. This causes considerable energy losses and will result in an increase in the payback period (PP) for solar power plants [8], [13], [17], [19].…”

This causes considerable energy losses and will result in an increase in the payback period (PP) for solar power plants [8], [13], [17], [19]. The purposes of this study are to compare the configuration of solar panels and inverters and find out which configuration will give the best results and provide the biggest savings.…”
