Abstract:The source of lighting in ships can be sourced from electrical energy generated by using generators or now can utilize new renewable energy, such as solar energy using PV. Based on the existing potential, Indonesia has good solar energy potential. The measurement results show that the potential for solar energy reaches 6.37 kWh/m2/day. This potential can certainly be utilized in the marine and fisheries world. The utilization of PV as a source of electrical energy on fishing boats is expected to help support g… Show more
“…This procurement uses very high financing and the lack of feedback from the consumption of electrical energy provided by state electricity company is still not balanced. The fulfillment of this energy comes mostly from the burning of fossil fuels that are millions of years old and cannot be renewed and only a small part comes from the use of other, more renewable sources [8]− [13]. Seeing the topography of East Nusa Tenggara which is surrounded by the sea, this type of ocean wave power plant is suitable to be built [10], [12], [14].…”

Utilization of new renewable energy can be one solution to the limitations of fossil energy. Ocean wave energy is renewable energy caused by tides, and this potential can be utilized as a source of electrical energy in Indonesia, especially East Nusa Tenggara. This ocean wave power plant uses oscillating water column (OWC) technology. This wave energy is energy that can be developed and environmentally friendly and available every time. This paper analyzes the amount of energy produced by ocean waves using OWC technology in the East Nusa Tenggara. The benefits of this paper can be used as a reference for planning the construction of a wave power plant around East Nusa Tenggara. The method used is to measure the condition of ocean waves for a year and analyze the amount of energy and electrical power that can be generated by ocean waves with the use of OWC. The results of the analysis show that the use of ocean wave power plants with OWC technology in the waters of East Nusa Tenggara can produce the highest energy of 20,291,728.83 Joules and the lowest is 17,062.62 Joules. The electrical power generated is between 3,645.45 Watt to 4,274,314.37 Watt, and average of power density by ocean waves using OWC is 19,021.89 Watt/m2.

“…The need for electrical energy every year is always increasing. These needs come from households, government, business, and also the world of education [1]- [3]. In the world of education, electrical energy is useful for supporting all facilities and infrastructure in the learning process, both in the classroom, laboratory, and workshop [4].…”
Marine and Fisheries Polytechnic of Kupang is one of the educational centers located in East Nusa Tenggara. The location of the campus is in an area with the potential for solar energy throughout the year and it is very possible to utilize this energy as a source of electrical energy. As a form of energy-saving and utilizing the existing potential in accordance with existing policy directions, this electrical energy potential will be utilized for 3 dormitories with a hybrid system with State Electricity Company. The utilization of renewable energy as a source of electrical energy can produce 44,294.20 kWh/year. The results of economic analyses are encouraging to intensify the use of such PV systems since the payback period is 8.79 years, and the internal rate of return is 9%. The results of the Spearman test of the relationship between technical, social, and economic gave a significant correlation (p<0.05). This shows that the use of photovoltaic PV systems on campus has a social and economic impact. The use of this renewable energy is expected to reduce the use of fossil energy which has a negative impact on the environment and assist government policies to support the use of renewable energy.
“…Fish drying machine is made using solar energy which is then used to help the fish drying process [22]. The potential of solar energy that is so good in Indonesia is one of the reasons for using this energy [23], [24]. The tool made will also be able to be integrated with IoT so that it can make it easier to know the condition of drying fish [25]− [27].…”
<span>The catch of fish is so large and often not completely sold, causing the fish to be wasted for free. This situation even indirectly causes environmental pollution around the area where fishermen live. To overcome this problem, a fish drying machine was made using a PV system. This tool is also a form of solving the problem of the traditional fish drying process which is sometimes not clean, safe, and depends on direct sunlight. This PV system can meet 169.95% of the need for 240 Wh/day of electrical energy from fish dryers. PV system can produce electrical energy for 407.81 Wh/day, where the largest energy can reach 520 Wh and the smallest is 160.8 Wh. The results of the analysis of the impact of using fish dryers socially and economically also gave significant results (p<0.005), where there was an increase from before and after the use of fish dryers experienced by fishermen. When viewed from the perspective of fishermen on the tool, the accuracy of the use of the tool, the benefit factor, and the shape of the fish dryer, the fishermen gave a good response, with an average value of <br /> 4.19-5.26.</span>
