Technical and Economic Evaluation of Three Types of Tomato Nutrient Solutions under Semi-Controlled Conditions

Abstract: <p>This study was conducted to evaluate the effect of three types of nutrient solutions on the development, performance, quality and cost of chonto tomato (<em>Solanum lycopersicum</em> L.) under semi-controlled conditions. The assessment was conducted in the farm Tesorito, Manizales, Colombia. An experimental design was established in randomized complete blocks (RCB), with 3 treatments, 4 replicates per treatment and 10 effective plants per replicate. The variables were: height of the first … Show more

“…In this same study, the efficiency of conventional fertilization was evaluated versus complete fertilization with boron in 'Blue Lake Pole' green beans, carried out in the department of Valle del Cauca, reporting 8,067 kg ha -1 . According to Arbeláez et al (2016), the boron element plays an important role in the fertility of the plant at the time of leaf growth, flowering, fruit set and the seed formation process; in addition, it affects many physiological processes of the plant such as transport of sugars, synthesis and structure of the cell wall, lignification, metabolism of carbohydrates, metabolism of RNA, phenols and ascorbates, respiration and integrity of the plasmatic membrane (Kabir et al, 2015). Meanwhile, Calero et al (2020) doubled the production of the variety Blue Lake with 17,974 kg ha -1 with 3 t ha -1 of chicken manure and 1 t ha -1 of vermicompost and 16,132 kg ha -1 with 1.5 t ha -1 of chicken manure and 1 t ha -1 of vermicompost.…”

“…The average commercial value was US$ 0.34/kg, discriminated as follows: extra US$ 0.49/kg, first US$ 0.43/ kg, second US$ 0.26/kg, and third US$ 0.20/kg (Corabastos, 2020). Finally, the following financial indicators were calculated according to Arbelaez et al (2016): Gross and net income, direct, indirect and total production costs, unit production margin (UPM), and benefit/cost ratio (B/C R). Analysis of variance and Duncan's test were performed considering a p-value < 0.05.…”
