Abstract: Assemblage of anurans (Amphibia, Anura) in a locality of dense Atlantic rain forest, Morretes, Paraná, Brazil. The species richness, habitat use and main environmental impacts on a taxocenose of anurans were determined during 19 months, in a region originally covered by dense Atlantic rain forest at Morretes municipality. Thirty-two species of anurans, belonging to ten families, were registered. In the local anuran fauna, 58% of these species were associated with open areas, and 42% of the species were associa… Show more

“…Rather, SDM methods consequently provided only those suitable areas where H. caingua would be able to occupy. Then, other factors than climate might be also responsible in the current distribution of H. caingua, since well surveyed sites between the current records, which have higher probabilities of occurrence according to the species distribution modelling, have no occurrence record for this species (e.g., Bernarde and Machado, 2001;Vasconcelos and Rossa-Feres, 2008;Serafim et al, 2008;Santos et al, 2009;Armstrong and Conte, 2010;Conte et al, 2010;Forlani et al, 2010;Silva and RossaFeres, 2011;Sabbag and Zina, 2011). We believe that further studies on natural history, populations' genetic structure and geographic distribution models implementing other factors than climate will be important to elucidate some ecological and evolutionary aspects of the distribution of H. caingua in South America.…”

“…In contrast, anuran composition in the states of Paraná and Rio Grande do Sul in southern Brazil is wellcharacterized, because a large number of studies have been conducted for several decades (Armstrong & Conte 2010;Bernarde & Anjos 1999;Both et al 2008;Colombo et al 2008;Conte & Machado 2005;Conte & Rossa-Feres 2007;Machado & Maltchik 2007;Santos et al 2008;Zank et al 2013). In Santa Catarina, little is known about species richness and geographical distribution of frogs due to the paucity of studies related to the subject (Garcia et al 2008;Lucas 2008).…”
