<div class="WordSection1"><p>While task-based language teaching (TBLT) is among the most preferred methods for teaching foreign languages, it has not received enough study to be empirically verified in the English as a Foreign Language (EFL) classroom. Few studies have looked into instructors' reactions towards TBLT in the setting of Indonesian college English. This study contributes to closing the gap by studying EFL teachers' perspectives of TBLT and evaluating the present use of TBLT in online learning. Data from classroom observations, interviews, and course materials were triangulated to give a descriptive synthesis of teacher participants' experiences with TBLT instruction. The data analysis indicated that the teacher displayed proactive and reactive agencies in overcoming the conflicts in the instructional activity system via teaching as both learning and adaptation. A variety of mediational elements were revealed to account for their agency. In order to influence teachers' adoption of task-based language teaching, the study emphasizes the significance of teachers' shared attitudes regarding the usefulness of TBLT, curricular change, and institutional support. The article finishes with a discussion of the practical implications of the findings of this small-scale study on how to facilitate successful application of TBLT during emergency remote teaching in Indonesia.</p></div>

A language is needed for maritime discipline. This research aims to identify the role of language skills, especially reading skills, on learner’s maritime competence. The research method used is a Systematic Literature Review. The articles used in this research are journal articles determined based on criteria from 2013-2023. Articles were obtained from the Google Scholar search page. Based on the literature review, it was found that reading skill is fundamental to improving learners’ maritime literacy. Mastery of specialized vocabulary is of particular concern in maritime-based reading instruction. In reading instruction, instructors should combine theoretical and practical approaches to help develop effective reading skills for maritime literacy.

In order to realize and support Indonesian national educational program of MBKM, every higher educational institution is recommended and stimulated to implement learning model of task-based language teaching (TBLT). This study investigated how enriching vocabularies and giving other prompt such as driving question words effective for students’ speaking performance, such as fluency. This was a qualitatively designed study. One class semester two students majoring in civil engineering department were involved as research participants. Learning material in the form of snapshot consisting of pictures was design to bridge the students thought to the whole learning materials. Snapshot without vocabulary enrichment and driving questions was tried in the first two sessions. Discussion upon the lesson was intensively undertaken to know why students hesitated and were doubtful to speak. Observation results combined with students’ perception concluded that enrichment of vocabularies and stimulating questions were found effective to increase students’ speaking performance, learning motivation and enthusiasm. Moreover, by practicing in front of their group and by succeeding in perform such task made them more stimulated to do better. Therefor made their learning meaningful.
