“…The fact that these mangrove‐barrier tactics were documented for two distinct Guiana dolphin population suggests the possibility of using the mangrove edges as static barriers to facilitate foraging by other populations of the species across its wide latitudinal distribution in the western Atlantic Ocean. In Babitonga Bay, southeastern Brazil, despite these events have not yet been observed, Guiana dolphins seem to prefer areas close to the mangroves, likely benefiting from the marine productivity of the area (Cremer, 2000). On the other hand, Guiana dolphins from the Norte Bay, southern Brazil, use less intensively the mangrove region, possibly because of its proximity to urban areas (Wedekin et al, 2010).…”

“…Five sea turtles species occur in Brazil, out of seven that inhabit the world. They are green turtle (Chelonia mydas), hawksbill turtle (Eretmochelys imbricata), loggerhead turtle (Caretta caretta), olive turtle (Lepidochelys olivacea), and leather turtle (Dermochelys coriacea) (Cremer et al 2020). In Brazil, all sea turtle species are included in the Red Book of the Brazilian Fauna Threatened by Extinction (Brasil 2018).…”
