Targeted delivery of poly (methyl methacrylate) particles in colon cancer cells selectively attenuates cancer cell proliferation

Abstract: Poly (methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) is basically biocompatible polyester with high resistance to chemical hydrolysis, and high drug permeability and the most important characteristics of PMMA is that it does not produce any toxicity. There is not much information about PMMA action on the colon cancer cells. In the present study, we have synthesized PMMA nanoparticles. The distribution pattern of PMMA particles was analysed by Zeta sizer and the size of the particles was calculated by using quasi elastic light sc… Show more

“…In this study, the cancerous and normal (healthy) cell line including the respective human colorectal carcinoma (HCT-116) and embryonic kidney (HEK-293) cells were used to evaluate the anti-cancerous activity of various MOSs extracts on these cells. Following the earlier prescribed method [36,37], the proposed cells were seeded in 96 well plates and grown in the Dulbecco’s Modified Eagle Medium (DMEM) supplemented with the reagents such as selenium chloride, L-glutamine, fetal bovine serum, antibiotic penicillin and streptomycin. One group of these cells were cultured inside a CO 2 incubator at the temperature of 37 °C and treated at various concentrations (0.030 mg/ml to 0.1 mg/ml) of the MOSs extracts.…”
