Tailoring the Surface Properties of Co-based Metal–Organic Frameworks for Highly Efficient and Selective Enrichment of Immunoglobulin G

Abstract: The high tunability of metal−organic frameworks (MOFs) provides attractive flexibility to tailor their surface properties for practical demands. Here we report the regulation of the surface properties (hydrophilicity and charge characteristics) of Co-based MOFs by exploiting different organic building units and tailor them as efficient adsorbents for specific protein enrichment. Compared with the pristine Co-based MOF (Co-MOF) and the aminated MOF (Co-MOF-NH 2 ), the MOF decorated with abundant hydroxyl groups… Show more

“…By fitting the data into the following equation, the theoretical maximum adsorption capacities of IgG are concluded to be 232.56 mg/g. Table 1 summarizes the maximum capacity of some reported materials MEP HyperCel resin 10.4 [39] Fe 3 O 4 @SiO 2 @mesoporous SiO 2 microsphere 41 [40] [PHEMA/PEI]-Cu(II) 72.28 [41] Co-MOF-OH 97.7 [42] UiO@GO@PEG 139.6 the other stripping reagents mentioned herein give rise to virtually no recovery of the adsorbed IgG. 0.1% SDS solution is thus preferred for the elution of the adsorbed IgG in this case.…”

“…[24][25][26][27] In terms of adsorption and separation applications, MOFs are widely used not only in the adsorption and separation of small molecules but also for selective enrichment and capture of biological macromolecules. [28][29][30] Compared with traditional materials, MOFs could be precisely regulated at the molecular level to achieve highly specific enrichment through rationally selecting organic ligands and metal cations. 31,32 In view of these excellent properties of the MOFs, great interest has been aroused in protein separation.…”
