“…Phase II testing demonstrated the scale up of the synthesis of mMST to a vendor prepared pilot scale batch (15 kg) along with demonstration of the strontium and actinide removal characteristics with actual tank waste supernate and measurement of filtration characteristics. 9,10 Additional funding allowed for continuation of the development of mMST under a Phase III project. Phase III testing included evaluation of the performance of mMST under varying conditions, evaluation of the desorption of sorbates under washing conditions, evaluation of the post-synthesis gas release, determination of the crystalline phases present in the material at varying temperatures, determination of the solids settling characteristics, and characterization of the peroxide content.…”
