Systems‐of‐systems modeling using a comprehensive viewpoint‐based SysML profile

Abstract: In recent years, more and more efforts have been devoted in supporting the design of systems-ofsystems (SoS). Designing such systems is a multidisciplinary problem which involves considering emergent phenomena, assuring the achievement of dependability/security requirements, guaranteeing system responsiveness, and supporting dynamicity/evolution and multicriticality of provided services. A first step towards a viable design approach is to provide a conceptual model of SoS which captures SoS concepts, and their… Show more

“…For the future work, we are currently working on extending the conceptual model for designing SoSs introduced in AMADEOS (Architecture for Multi-criticality Agile Dependable Evolutionary Open System-of-Systems) project 4 to accommodate the new concepts/attributes concerning IQ, and then we are planning to derive the corresponding SysML profiles [23], [24] from the extended conceptual model . In addition, we intend to extend the IQ dimensions we considered in this paper, and better investigate their inter-dependencies.…”

“…Although MBSE and SysML were not initially proposed for SoS development, they have received great attention from the SoS community. For example, Mori et al [37] proposed a SysML profile for SoS and demonstrated how to use the profile in a model-driven engineering process to support different types of analysis. Lane and Bohn [38] demonstrated that the SysML models can capture information distilled from a multitude of constituent system documents and engineering experts and then integrate them to better facilitate SoS engineering.…”

“…Mori et al propose a SysML profile that contains a number of viewpoints each relating to a particular SoS concern . The viewpoints include structure, time, dependability, security, evolution, dynamicity, multicriticality, and emergence.…”
