Systematic revision and cladistic analysis of the Brazilian subfamily Sodreaninae (Opiliones:Gonyleptidae)

Abstract: Sodreaninae is reviewed and all ten species are combined under its type genus, Sodreana Mello-Leitão, 1922, according to a cladistic analysis of morphological characters, which revealed a pectinate pattern of clades. The subfamily is endemic to the Brazilian Atlantic rainforest from Santa Catarina state to Rio de Janeiro state. Sodreana is herein considered a senior synonym of Stygnobates Mello-Leitão, 1927, Zortalia Mello-Leitão, 1936, Gertia B. Soares & H. Soares, 1946 and Annampheres H. Soares, 1979. Th… Show more

“…We prepared the male genitalia according to PINTO-DA-ROCHA (1997, 2002 for illustrations using a camera lucida attached to a compound microscope (ZEISS AXIOSKOPE), and to take pictures using a LEICA LEO 440 scanning electron microscope, housed at the MZSP. In the descriptions, we used the nomenclature of ACOSTA et al (2007) with some modifications tailored to the group.…”

“…HARA et al 2012). The most comprehensive phylogenetic hypothesis for the family is that of PINTO-DA-ROCHA (2002). According to at least two ongoing studies of the supraspecific phylogeny of gonyleptids, Pachylinae is a polyphyletic assemblage (according to at least two ongoing studies of the supraspecific phylogeny of gonyleptids).…”

“…Before this contribution, Metarthrodes Roewer, 1913 included nine species, distributed in the Atlantic Forest from the state of Bahia to the state of São Paulo (with a questionable record of M. nigrigranulatus Roewer, 1913 from the state of Paraná) (PINTO-DA-ROCHA 2002). In this paper we describe an additional species in Metarthrodes.…”
