To minimize the number of iterations and correction returns while designing a system, sharing crucial parameters and data between different actors is needed. Since mechatronic systems are considered complex because of their multi-disciplines, their design requires collaborative work to ensure the sharing of parameters between contributors from different domains. This paper proposes a new methodology based on the collaborative design to choose the architecture of a mechatronic system. This methodology is structured around three main phases: the pre-collaboration phase, the collaboration phase and the postcollaboration phase. The proposed methodology has been validated by applying it on a mechatronic system called Electronic Throttle Body (ETB). In order to share the different established activities and capitalize knowledge, KARREN (Knowledge Acquisition and reuse for Robust Engineering) a collaborative tool from DPS (Digital Product Simulation) a French company, is used in this project to help us to choose the appropriate architecture of the Electronic Throttle Body.

Intelligent manufacturing has produced a revolutionary change, mainly driven by the current competitive world, reinforcing the importance of inserting Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) approach. PLM emerges with the aim of efficiently managing product-related information throughout the product lifecycle with sustainability. It also satisfies the interest in managing the services and products lifecycle, and in the case of products, their management, from their insertion in production processes, to their lifecycle end, generating a closed management cycle. This paper aims mainly to understand how the concept of PLM is being approached and defined by academics. For this, a systematic literature review with bibliometrics, networks and contents analysis were applied. The goal of this paper to evidencing the main PLM definitions, providing a comprehensive view of the current researches and raising knowledge gaps for future research about it.

A systematic literature review of cross-domain model consistency checking by model management tools

Objective The goal of this study is to identify gaps and challenges related to cross-domain model management focusing on consistency checking. Method We conducted a systematic literature review. We used the keyword-based search on Google Scholar, and we identified 618 potentially relevant studies; after applying inclusion and exclusion criteria, 96 papers were selected for further analysis. Results The main findings/contributions are: (i) a list of available tools used to support model management; (ii) 40% of the tools can provide consistency checking on models of different domains and 25% on models of the same domain, and 35% do not provide any consistency checking; (iii) available strategies to keep the consistency between models of different domains are not mature enough; (iv) most of the tools that provide consistency checking on models of different domains can only capture up to two inconsistency types; (v) the main challenges associated with tools that manage models on different domains are related to interoperability between tools and the consistency maintenance. Conclusion The results presented in this study can be used to guide new research on maintaining the consistency between models of different domains. Example of further research is to investigate how to capture the Behavioral and Refinement inconsistency types. This study also indicates that the tools should be improved in order to address, for example, more kinds of consistency check.
