ABSTRACT. The present paper aims at accounting for the Spanish Imperfecto, Perfecto, Pluscuamperfecto and the Indefinido by applying three binary tense oppositions: Present vs Past, Synchronous vs Posterior and Imperfect(ive) vs Perfect(ive). For the sixteen Spanish tense forms under analysis a binary approach leads to covering twelve of them. Their relation with the preterital forms outside the range of the three oppositions is accounted for by two surgical operations: (a) the notion of Imperfect(ive) is severed from the notion of ongoing progress by restricting it to underinformation about completion and by seeing continuous tense forms as involving a more complex semantics; (b) the notion of (non-)stative is strictly severed from interference of information coming from the arguments of a verb. These theoretical moves make the way free for a formal-semantic insight into the interaction of Spanish tense and aspect. It also paves the way for a principled distinction between completion and anteriority. Restricted to tense forms pertaining to the past, our analysis sheds light on the struggle for survival of tense forms outside the binary system. El presente trabajo pretende describir y explicar las siguientes formas verbales del castellano: Imperfecto, Perfecto, Pluscuamperfecto e Indefinido aplicando tres oposiciones temporales binarias: Presente vs Pasado, Sincrónico vs Posterior e Imperfecto/imperfectivo vs Perfecto/perfectivo. Este acercamiento binario cubre doce de las dieciséis formas temporales del castellano analizadas. La relación entre las formas verbales que entran en el sistema binario y las formas de pretérito que no entran en el sistema se explica por dos operaciones quirúrgicas: (a) la noción de Imperfecto/imperfectivo se separa de la noción de progresivo continuo, restringiendo el valor del Imperfecto/imperfectivo a la subinformación sobre su terminación e implicando una semántica más compleja para las formas temporales progresivas; (b) la noción de (no) estatividad está estrictamente separada de la interferencia de la información aspectual procedente de los argumentos de un verbo. Estos movimientos teóricos dan vía libre a una comprensión formal-semántica de la interacción del tiempo y del aspecto en castellano. También allana el camino para una distinción argumentada entre las nociones de terminación y anterioridad. Limitado a formas verbales del pasado, nuestro análisis ilumina la batalla por la supervivencia de las formas temporales fuera del sistema binario.

Se pornește de la ipoteza că multe dintre trăsăturile sintactice ale românei puse pe seama influenței slavone (mai ales în studii puternic influențate ideologic, apărute în perioada comunistă) sînt, de fapt, fie dezvoltări firești în trecerea de la latină la română, comune cu celelalte limbi romanice, fie rezultatul unor tendințe mai generale, manifestate în istoria limbilor indoeuropene. Se propune un algoritm de lucru pentru a verifica rolul influenței slavone în existența anumitor trăsături sintactice ale limbii române, care este aplicat la două cazuri concrete din limba română veche: topica adjectivelor relaționale și dislocarea formelor verbale compuse, corelată cu inversiunea auxiliarelor. IntroducereÎn acest articol este adusă în discuție o problemă controversată a lingvisticii românești și romanice, existența unor elemente de origine slavonă în sintaxa limbii române vechi, eventual perpetuate și în limba modernă. Influența sintaxei slavone asupra românei vechi este relevantă în măsura în care, după cum se știe, multe dintre textele românești vechi (din secolul al XVI-lea) sînt traduceri religioase (și, în mai mică mă-sură juridice) după original slavon, iar în bibliografie (istorii ale limbii, studii filologice precedînd edițiile de text) numeroase trăsături sintactice ale românei vechi sînt considerate de origine slavonă. Pentru cercetarea de față, nu sînt importante trăsăturile sintactice care apar numai accidental într-un text vechi/într-un număr foarte mic de texte vechi, ci acele particularități generale ale limbii vechi, manifestate în mai multe texte, pe cît posibil variate ca registru. Numai două dintre aceste trăsături (care vor face obiectul unei cercetări mai ample) vor fi discutate în acest articol: topica adjectivelor relaționale și dislocarea formelor verbale compuse.Subiectul propus aici ridică două probleme, la care vom căuta răspunsuri: (i) o problemă de natură lingvistică-este posibil ca sintaxa limbii-țintă să fie influențată de sintaxa limbii-sursă, așa cum se întîm-plă, în mod observabil, în lexic și semantică? și (ii) o problemă de natură istorico-ideologică-este posibil ca un anumit context politic/ideologic să influențeze interpretarea datelor dintr-un domeniu aparent independent de factorul politic, cum este lingvistica?Înainte de a trece la analiza datelor de limbă, trebuie făcute cîteva observații legate de modul în care istoria, implicit contextul politic oscilant, au putut influența interpretarea lingvistică.În istoriografia românească s-au manifestat două tendințe opuse, care au reapărut în mod ciclic, fiecare perioadă aducînd o interpretare proprie a datelor trecutului (Djuvara, 2006;Boia, 2011): pe de o parte, negarea oricărei influențe slave în istoria r...

The present paper discusses the issue of the Old Church Slavonic influence on the syntax of (old) Romanian. The starting point is the hypothesis that many of the syntactic features of Romanian previously explained by postulating the influence of (Old Church) Slavonic (especially in studies strongly influenced by ideological issues, published during the Communist period) are actually either regular transformations which occurred in the transition from Latin to Romanian, common to the other Romance languages as well, or the output of more general tendencies manifested in the history of Indo-European languages. In order to check the role of the Slavonic influence in the syntax of Romanian, we have established a working algorithm, which is applied to two phenomena from old Romanian: (i) the position of relative adjectives, and (ii) scrambling in compound verbal forms in correlation with auxiliary inversion.
