“…Generally, the quality of a recorded pattern character-ized by the correlation coefficient can be improved by increasing the recording energy. However, the crosstalk between different recording channels will become larger as the recording energy increase, which results in the reduction of storage capacity and possibly the damage of storage media 40 . Therefore, how to optimize recording energy becomes an issue in the multiplexed optical storage.…”

“…Given that the scheme of using integrated optics 39,40 to generate ST vortices is still limited by the processing accuracy, material intrinsic absorption, etc., our method may be the first choice for studying transverse OAM at present. At this stage, the SLM in the experiment can be replaced by the flexible metasurfaces [41][42][43] or the LC geometric phase devices 44,45 with additional polarization response, which would allow the multidimensional multiplexing of STB vortices via photonic spin-orbit interactions. Although our results show that dispersion engineering works well in suppressing the time diffraction, the required negative dispersion is quite large.…”

“…Moreover, the demonstration was realised in a very compact volume with ultra-dense information density with an equivalent capacity of 1.6 TB in a single disc by exploiting the properties of longitudinal surface plasmon resonance of gold nanorods. This multiplexing data storage scheme was extended to 6D now, by exploiting OAM as an additional dimension 74 (Fig. 3b ).…”

“…The correction of aberrations is crucial for both light illumination and signal detection, as the induced phase and polarisation errors can cause detrimental degeneration of information such as image contrast, OAM phase distribution (purity) and correctness of vectorial information. They are vital for light multiplexing, such as direct OAM and/or polarisation multiplexing 74 , 168 . The novel adaptive optics (AO) technique for both phase and polarisation errors correction (Fig.…”
