Synthesis, X-ray crystal structure, electrochemical and antibacterial activity of a silver(I) complex with α-bromo-cinnamaldehyde salicylhydrazone

Abstract: The mononuclear silver(I) complex [AgL(HL)Á DMF] (I) (HL = C 6 H 13 O 2 N 2 Br) has been prepared and characterized by physicochemical and spectroscopic methods, single crystal X-ray diffraction, cyclic voltammetry, and antibacterial activity tests. The complex crystallized in the triclinic system, and each Ag(I) is six-coordinate with a distorted octahedral geometry. The ligands chelate the metal center with N, O, and Br atoms from two different Schiff base ligands. O-HÁÁÁO intermolecular hydrogen bonds conne… Show more

“…134 Good antimicrobial activity was observed for a silver complex with two a-bromo-cinnamaldehyde salicylhydrazone ligands coordinating via N-and stabilised by the O-and Br-atoms. 135 Silver cyanoximates with various electron withdrawing groups including -CN, -C(O)NR 2 were synthesised, showing insensitivity toward visible light and UV and show pronounced antimicrobial activity. 136…”
