“…Due to the partial sharing of the metal ion's positive charge with these donor groups and the potential for electron delocalization across the chelate ring system, coordination also reduces the polarity of the metal ion. 3 The inhibitory zone diameter ranges for the Cr(III), Mn(II), Co(II), Cu(II), Zn(II), and Cd(II) complexes are 17-19, 18-21, 18-21, 20-21, 16-20, and 16-21 mm, respectively. The sort of metal ion coupled to the BHX ligand may significantly contribute to this diversity, which is likely one of the causes of the complexes' diverse antibacterial action.…”

“…For S. aureus (Gram-positive bacteria), most of mixed ligand complexes with Phen had higher activity than glycine mixed ligand complexes except H 2 O complexes showed greatly higher inhibitory effect than other complexes against P. aeruginosa (Gramnegative bacteria), while [Fe(BHX)(Phen)(H 2 O) 2 ] Cl 3 .2H 2 O complex had no activity but its analogue showed 10 mm inhibition zone diameter. 3 By comparing biological activity of the mentioned mixed ligand complexes with the newly synthesized tridentate Schiff base ligand derived from ofloxacin and 2-aminophenol, both complexes' series were tested against S. aureus (Gram-positive) and E. coli (Gram-negative) bacteria. It was found that metal chelates of ofloxacin-based ligand were more active against Gram-positive species than complexes of BHX ligand.…”
