Synthesis, Structural, and Antimicrobial Studies of Some New Coordination Compounds of Palladium(II) with Azomethines Derived from Amino Acids

Abstract: Some new coordination compounds of palladium(II) have been synthesized by the reaction of palladium(II) acetate with azomethines in a 1 : 2 molar ratio using acetonitrile as a reaction medium. Azomethines used in these studies have been prepared by the condensation of 2-acetyl uorene and 4-acetyl biphenyl with glycine, alanine, valine, and leucine in methanol. An attempt has been made to probe their bonding and structures on the basis of elemental analyses and IR, 1 H, and 13 C NMR spectral studies. Pd(II) co… Show more

“…assignable to the aromatic protons. A corresponding multiplet appears in almost the same position in the spectrum of the Pd II complex (compound 1) as that observed by Gupta et al (2013). Singlets for aliphatic methylene (-CH 2 ) and methyl (-CH 3 ) protons appear at 5.11 and 2.32 p.p.m., respectively.…”

“…The C-H stretching and bending vibration lies in the region of 3061 cm -1 and 2941 cm -1 respectively [30,31]. Similarly, the strong absorption bands with stretching vibration of the carbonyl (C=O) groupwere seen at 1614 cm -1 and 1622 cm -1 regions in the spectrum [32,33]. The aromatic υ(C=C) absorption bands are at 1502 cm -1 and 1455 cm -1 respectively [34].…”

“… 4 These compounds are very important and widely used because of their interesting physical and chemical properties. 5 A range of biological effects have also been reported for Schiff bases, including antifungal, antipyretic, 6 antibacterial, 7 antimalarial, and antiproliferative 8 effects. These compounds are excitingly used as pigments and dyes, catalysts, and polymer stabilizers.…”
