Synthesis of β-lactams and oxazolidines from phenoxyacetic acid and ethanolimines promoted by benzenesulfonyl chloride

Abstract: β−Lactams show diverse and interesting antibiotic activity. The N-(2-hydroxyethyl) β-lactams are very important precursors of N-unsubstituted β-lactams.
