Synthesis of TiO2 Nan particles by Using Sol-Gel Method and Its Applications as Antibacterial Agents

Abstract: TiO 2 nanoparticles were prepared from TiCl 4 as a precursor with ethanol solution with 1:10 ratio in ambient atmosphere, without additive. Sol-gel synthesized has been dried and calcined at (550-600)°C. The structure, morphology and the particle size of the nanoparticles were investigated by X-ray Diffraction and Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM). The optical properties were studied by UV-Visible Spectrophotometer. Results showed that the anatase phase was only in titanium dioxide powder up to 500. The avera… Show more

“…Figure 5b relates to the spectrum of the PS sample and indicates the presence of a diffraction peak at 23.4 • that belongs to amorphous SiO 2 NPs [48]. The spectrum of the PT sample (Figure 5c) emphasizes the presence of the anatase phase, which is confirmed by the presence of a peak at 37.77 • (101 plane), while the spectrum of the PST sample illustrates the presence of a peak at 23.4 • that shows the presence of SiO 2 and also a peak at 25.1 • (004 plane) related to anatase [49,50]. The results of the XRD analysis confirm the successful loading of NPs into the nanofibrous mats; the phase of TiO 2 is anatase, which is important in applications for water purification due to its photocatalytic effect [30].…”

“…Figure 1(A) shows the XRD patterns of M‐TiO 2 precursor and synthesized TiO 2 with different NaOH concentrations of 5 M and 8 M named M5 and M8 , respectively. The diffraction peaks were at 2–theta of 25.33 o , 37.82 o , and 48.08 o respectively corresponding to lattice planes of (101), (004), and (200) [ 12 ] which characterized for anatase phase (JCPDS files No.21‐1272). In comparison with M–TiO 2 , the products showed rough baselines, and diffraction peaks with broader line widths indicating lower crystallinity.…”

“…Among them, Cotton fiber is the purest cellulose and is the maximum rich polymer in the environment [15] for usage in many applications due to its availability, feel comfortable, fair mechanical strength, high durability, and cost -effectiveness. [14] SiO2 nanoparticles have been synthesized on cotton fabrics using various methods such as hydrothermal [16], chemical vapor condensation [17], direct oxidation [18], sol-gel technique and others. [16,19] In this work, In-Situ synthesis of SiO2 nanoparticles on cotton fabric was performed by a simple method namely sol-gel with tetraethyl orthosilicate (TEOS) as a precursor in the presence of acid and alkaline indicators.…”
