Synthesis of ternary g-C3N4/Bi2MoO6/TiO2 nanotube composite photocatalysts for the decolorization of dyes under visible light and direct sunlight irradiation

Abstract: Novel ternary nanocomposite photocatalysts based on g-C3N4/Bi2MoO6/TiO2 nanotube were synthesized using simple solid combustion, hydrothermal and wetness impregnation methods. The structural and morphological properties of the synthesized photocatalysts were systematically characterized using powder X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The crystal structure and phase purity of unitary, binary, and ternary photocatalysts were confirmed by XRD a… Show more

“…The absorption peaks at 1649 and 1543 cm −1 are assigned to the NHCOCH3 (amide I) and NH2 groups (amide II), respectively, confirming the presence of Cs on the surfaces of TiO2-NTs. In the FTIR spectrum of CIP, the peaks at 3737 and 1617 cm −1 are related to OH stretching and quinolone structure, respectively [47]. The peaks between 1382 and 1459 cm −1 belong to C-O; and the peaks at 1382 to 1222 cm −1 resulted from the OH group of carboxylic acid.…”

“…At 1460 cm −1 , a band was formed by Ti-O modes. The bands at 3452 and 1649 cm −1 are due to hydroxyl groups of the absorbed water on the TiO2-NTss surfaces [47].…”

“…The peak at 2900-3150 cm −1 indicates the vibration of the O-H bond in carboxylic acid (Table 1). The peak at 1632 cm −1 signifies the vibration of the C=C bond and Ti-OH bond [33] while the vibrations of the C=O bond and C-C bond from the aromatic ring are observed at 1711 cm −1 and 1435 cm −1 , respectively [34]. Upon exposure to gamma rays, the absorption peaks changed, indicating the interactions within the materials.…”

“…When the pH of the solution was high, the degradation efficiency of the photocatalyst was low, because in an alkaline environment a large number of hydroxides would attach to its surface and occupy the reactive sites of the photocatalyst, thereby inhibiting the photocatalytic reaction. [56][57][58][59][60][61] When the pH value of the solution was low, the concentration of hydroxide in the solution was relatively low, which was beneficial to the photocatalytic reaction.…”
