Synthesis of Porphyrin- Graphene Oxide Nanocomposite for an Optical Chemical Sensor Application

Abstract: A specific and sensitive optical chemical sensor (optode) was fabricated for the determination of mercury ions. The optode was prepared by graphene oxide-porphyrin composite. The graphene oxide-porphyrin composite was synthesized and characterized by field emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM), UV-Vis and Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopic techniques. The various experimental parameters such as pH of aqueous solution of Hg (II) and content of the THPP as well as the grapheme oxide have b… Show more

“…A shoulder seen at ~310 nm corresponds to the n-π* transitions. The second characteristic band appeared at 237 nm can be attributed to the π-π* transitions of the aromatic C=C bonds which corresponds to the sp 3 character in GO [20][21][22][23].…”

“…Because of the fact that it can be easily designed and functionalized chemically and the obtained structures have unique physicochemical properties and surface, it is attracted as multidisciplinary area by the scientists. The functional groups on the graphene oxide surfaces have high surface area and show some potential for the removal of heavy metal ions from aqueous solutions [20].…”
