Synthesis of Nanocrystalline MgO Particles by Combustion Followed by Annealing Method Using Hexamine as a Fuel

Abstract: In this work, nanocrystalline MgO particles were prepared through combustion method using magnesium nitrate as oxidizer and hexamine as a fuel. The materials obtained by combustion method were subsequently annealed at 800 ∘ C for 3 h to improve the crystallinity and phase purity. The obtained MgO nanomaterials were characterized by powder X-ray diffraction analysis (XRD), infrared (IR) spectroscopy, photoluminescence (PL), near-infrared (NIR) spectroscopy, and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The cubic crys… Show more

“…From Figure 2, it can be observed that the Bragg reflections such as (111), (002), (202), (113), and (222) are seen in the 2h range between 108 and 908. This present value is in good accordance with the literature reports about MgO NPs [27]. The All reflections are sharp with slight broadening.…”

“…The bands at 674 cm −1 was assigned to Mg‐O vibration in the MgO, Ce‐O, and Zn‐O vibrations were observed at 456 cm −1 , and 547 cm −1 in the spectra, respectively. The FT‐IR absorption peak seen at the wavenumber 1468 cm −1 is assigned to the asymmetric stretching of the carbonate ion, CO32species .The BET of NPs were determined using the Brunauer–Emmett–Teller (BET) method which listed in Table .…”

“…The observed peaks were [40][41][42][43][44]. The peaks at 482 cm −1 and 533 cm −1 are associated to longitudinal optical phonon bands in MgO lattice [40,45].…”

“…The spectrum clearly shows sub peaks at 432, 465, and 495nm. 43 Note that luminescence given in Figure 8 is excitation wavelength-dependent. Figure 8b is generated by excitation at 395 nm, whereas 8a is generated by excitation at 290 nm.…”
