Synthesis of Linear Piperazine/Polyether Functional Polysiloxane and Its Modification of Surface Properties on Cotton Fabrics

Abstract: In this work, silicone softener (PTSO-PEG) was synthesized, with piperazine terminated polydimethylsiloxane (PTSO) and epoxy terminated polyethylene glycol (EPEG) as raw materials. Chemical structure of PTSO-PEG was characterized by (1)H NMR, FTIR, GPC, and TGA. Its application on cotton fabrics was studied. Morphologies of silicone modified surfaces on cotton fabrics and silicon wafers were investigated by SEM and AFM, respectively. The morphology images indicated that PTSO-PEG treated surface was macroscopic… Show more

“…The obtained ∆G 0 ads values of TS-OE12 are presented in Table 2. As follows from this table, the ∆G 0 ads values calculated from Equation (11) are constant only in the range of surfactants concentrations corresponding to the unsaturated monolayer at the water-air interface and the ∆G 0 ads values decrease with increasing temperature. According to the thermodynamic rule ∆G 0 ads fulfils the relationship [36,40]:…”

“…Thanks to the presence of the Si-H bond, it is possible to attach all kinds of substituents, e.g. amino [1][2][3][4], epoxycarbo [5][6][7], aryl and methacrylic [8,9] or polyether [4,10,11] groups. Modification of polysiloxanes with organic groups provides a wide range of hybrid materials combining the properties of polysiloxanes (thermal resistance, oxidation resistance, gas permeability, low surface tension, excellent dielectric properties, physiological neutrality and moisture resistance) with those of organic functional groups.…”

“…When N-methyl-Dglucamine was connected to the epoxy ring, a new signal of the epoxy ring disappeared and the −OH signal appeared at 4.6 in the upfield. 13 C shifts are shown in spectra C and D. All homologous chemical shifts are located at the corresponding positions.…”
