Synthesis of Coral‐Like, Straw‐Tied‐Like, and Flower‐Like Antimony Sulfides by a Facile Wet‐Chemical Method

Abstract: Antimony sulfide (Sb 2 S 3 ) was successfully synthesized from antimony chloride (SbCl 3 ) and sodium thiosulfate pentahydrate (Na 2 S 2 O 3 ⋅ 5H 2 O) in ethylene glycol (EG) without using any template by a facile wet-chemical method. X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and transmission electron microscopy (TEM) show that the products were orthorhombic Sb 2 S 3 nanorods forming the coral-like, straw-tied-like, and flower-like architectures with the nanorods growing along the [001] dire… Show more

“…Kavinchan et al obtained flowerlike structures by means of a solvothermal process. Spherical structures of about ~8 μm in diameter, consisting of fine wires, have also been obtained [14]. Lu et al reported the synthesis of Sb 2 S 3 bars by the hydrothermal route attaining bars of 5 μm in length that were coupled in different directions [15].…”
